Frequently asked questions.

Dri Wash ’n Guard®
The Original Waterless
Since 1990

1. What is a waterless car wash?

A waterless car wash is a spray-on cleaning system that safely lifts and encapsulates dirt so it can be wiped away without a hose or bucket.

Dri Wash ’n Guard® pioneered this category in 1990 — allowing vehicles to be cleaned, sealed, and protected anywhere.

2. How does Dri Wash ’n Guard® work?

Our high-lubricity formula surrounds and encapsulates dirt particles, allowing them to be safely lifted from the surface with a plush microfiber towel. At the same time, our PolyGuard®-3™ system — reinforced with Polyphene™ — leaves behind a protective, slick layer.

Clean. Seal. Protect.

3. Will Dri Wash ’n Guard® scratch my paint?

Not when used properly.

Always:

• Use sufficient product
• Work panel by panel
• Use clean, plush microfiber towels
• Apply light pressure

Our formula is engineered with lubrication to reduce friction during the wipe process.

4. Is Dri Wash ’n Guard® safe for modern clear coats?

Yes. It is designed for factory clear coats, painted surfaces, trim, and modern wheel finishes.

When used as directed, it safely maintains your finish without harsh abrasion.

5. Will it leave residue or streaks?

No. When lightly misted and properly buffed with a clean microfiber towel, Dri Wash ’n Guard® leaves a clear, glossy finish — not heavy residue.

6. Can I use Dri Wash ’n Guard® on a very dirty vehicle?

Waterless systems are designed for maintenance-level cleaning.

For heavy mud, thick grit, or excessive salt buildup, pre-rinse or remove heavy debris first before applying.

7. How often should I use Dri Wash ’n Guard®?

As often as needed.

Many owners use it weekly to maintain a consistently clean, protected finish. The more regularly it’s used, the easier each future clean becomes.

8. Can I use Dri Wash ’n Guard® on glass, wheels, and trim?

Yes. It is safe on:

• Paint
• Glass
• Chrome
• Exterior plastic
• Modern wheel finishes

Always use a clean towel for each surface.

9. What kind of towel should I use?

Use plush, high-quality microfiber towels.

Avoid cotton rags or paper towels, which can increase friction and risk surface damage.

10. Can I use Dri Wash ’n Guard® on ceramic or graphene-coated vehicles?

Yes.

Our Polyphene™ formula is designed to work on top of existing wax, sealant, ceramic, or graphene coatings. It refreshes gloss and reinforces slickness without stripping what’s already there.

11. What’s the difference between waterless wash, rinseless wash, and quick detailers?

Waterless wash (Dri Wash ’n Guard®) – Requires no hose or bucket. Spray and wipe.
Rinseless wash – Uses a small bucket of diluted solution and towels.
Quick detailer – Primarily for light dust and shine enhancement, not true cleaning.

Dri Wash ’n Guard® is a complete clean-and-protect system.

12. Can I use it in direct sunlight?

It’s best to work in shade on a cool surface. Direct sunlight can cause faster evaporation and streaking.

13. What if the product dries before I wipe it off?

Simply apply a light mist and wipe again with a clean microfiber towel.

14. Is Dri Wash ’n Guard® environmentally responsible?

Yes. Because it eliminates the need for running water, it significantly reduces water use and runoff compared to traditional washing.

Sustainability was part of our approach long before it became a marketing term.

15. Does Dri Wash ’n Guard® provide protection?

Yes.

Our PolyGuard®-3™ system leaves behind a protective layer that enhances gloss and surface slickness. With Polyphene™, protection is further reinforced with graphene-based molecular enhancement.

16. Can it replace traditional washing completely?

For regular maintenance, yes.

For heavily soiled vehicles, a pre-rinse or traditional wash may occasionally be necessary.

17. Can it remove tar, sap, or heavy bug residue?

No. Those require specialized cleaners before using Dri Wash ’n Guard®.

18. How many towels do I need?

Typically 3–4 plush microfiber towels for a mid-size vehicle. Larger vehicles may require more.

19. Is it safe for tinted windows?

Yes, and on all non-pourous surfaces.

20. Can I use Dri Wash ’n Guard® on motorcycles or boats?

Yes. It works on painted, chrome, and plastic surfaces found on bikes, boats, and marine applications.

21. What are the most common mistakes?

• Using dirty towels
• Using too little product
• Applying excessive pressure

Let the formula do the work.

22. Can it be used indoors?

Yes. Since no running water is required, it’s ideal for garages, carports, and detailing bays.

23. Does it save money?

Yes. It reduces water usage, eliminates frequent car wash visits, and lowers long-term maintenance costs.

24. Can I apply wax or sealant after using Dri Wash ’n Guard®?

Yes. It leaves the surface clean. However, it isn’t necessary.  The advanced protection of Dri Wash is all you need going forward.

25. What about matte finishes?

Matte finishes have a microscopic texture that creates their non-gloss appearance. Excessive rubbing can alter that texture.

Always consult your vehicle manufacturer before using any surface product on matte paint, and test in an inconspicuous area first.  Be careful, this can be tricky so we do not recommend it.

26. Does it help during winter?

Yes. It’s ideal when hoses freeze or outdoor washing isn’t practical.

27. Does it make the next wash easier?

Yes. The protective layer reduces bonded contaminants, making future maintenance faster and easier.

28. Is it safe for dark-colored vehicles?

Yes. The lubricating formula helps reduce the risk of visible swirl marks, making it especially useful for black or darker finishes.

Getting Started with

Dri Wash ’n Guard® was engineered to simplify car care — without sacrificing protection or finish quality.

Here’s how to begin.

What You Need for Your First Wash

Starting is simple.
You’ll need:

That’s it.

No hose. No buckets. No runoff.

Can I Use Dri Wash ’n Guard® on a Brand-New Vehicle?

Technique & Safety

Waterless washing is about proper method — not pressure.

How Do I Avoid Scratches?

Follow three rules:

  1. Use enough product — lubrication is protection.
  2. Always use clean, plush microfiber towels.
  3. Wipe in straight lines with light pressure.

Let the formula do the work.

Can I Use It on Glass?

Yes.

Dri Wash ’n Guard® is safe on automotive glass. For a final, streak-free finish, you may follow with a dedicated glass cleaner if desired.

Understanding Your Tools

What’s the Difference Between a Drying Towel and a Finishing Towel?

Drying Towels – Highly absorbent, designed to remove water after traditional washes.
Finishing Towels – Ultra-soft microfiber designed for applying and buffing protective products without linting or friction.

For Dri Wash ’n Guard®, use plush finishing-style microfiber towels.

Graphene vs. Ceramic: What’s the Difference?

Both technologies enhance surface protection.

Ceramic-based protection is known for strong water beading.
Graphene-based reinforcement — like our Polyphene™ additive — enhances slickness and durability while supporting hydrophobic performance.

At Dri Wash ’n Guard®, we engineered Polyphene™ to reinforce protection without compromising wipe performance.

Product Care & Storage

How Should I Store My Products?

Store Dri Wash ’n Guard® in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Extreme heat or freezing temperatures can degrade performance. Always ensure the cap is tightly sealed.

How Do I Clean Microfiber Towels?

Proper towel care protects your finish.

• Rinse towels immediately after use.
• Wash separately from other laundry.
• Use microfiber-safe detergent only.
• Never use fabric softeners or bleach.
• Tumble dry on low heat or air dry.

High heat can damage microfiber fibers.
